The unwavering desire by so many "on the right" to destroy Barack Obama at all costs is staggering to me.
Today's rid
iculous smear is that Obama wants to "bankrupt" the coal industry. It's all from an audio interview given in January of this year to the San Francisco Examiner".
Do you know of anyone--ANYONE--who wants our air to so polluted that we have to wear face masks? Do you know anyone--ANYONE--who want American cities to look like many of the Chinese cities we saw during the Olympics---where our own athletes were afraid to stay too long for fear of breathing their air.
OF COURSE NOT.
Barack Obama ---in the very interview his opponents purposely take out of context and misconstrue--says quite clearly he wants CLEAN coal to be a major part of America's energy future.
The Washington Post has a pretty good summary---WITH BOTH SIDES EXPLAINED--here.
He says he has a plan that would tax the emission of coal particulate that would be harmful, but HE WANTS TO MAKE CLEAN COAL A PART OF OUR ENERGY MIX.
Here is some what Obama said IN HIS OWN WORDS:
But this notion of no coal, I think, is an illusion. Because the fact of the matter is is that right now we are getting a lot of our energy from coal........ So what we have to do then is figure out how can we use coal without emitting greenhouse gases and how can we sequester that carbon and capture it....The only thing that I've said with respect to coal--... What I have said is that for us to take coal off the table as a ideological matter, as opposed to saying if technology allows us to use coal in a clean way, we should pursue it. That I think is the right approach
Where is the error of that?
In our area we understand that we have LOTS of coal and it has a role to play.
But we HAVE to clean it and find new uses for it.
Coal-gas. Coal-liquid. Clean coal.
It is the FUTURE.
And Obama believes in it.
When you hear otherwise, challenge those who you hear it from.
And wonder what it is that they hate about Obama so much they will purposely distort a very clear and simple policy: CLEAN COAL IS THE FUTURE.

In the midst of the hustle and bustle and of your busy morning, take a minute to reflect each day on the bigger picture.
