Getting ready for 3 days of broadcasts from DC. What used to be called the "Take Back America" conference, but now that we "libs" have TAKEN it back, it's called "America's Future Now". Lots of great guests lined up--progressive politicos and policy makers. Bob Ney will be broadcasting his show from there as well.....I didn't know we still had streetwalkers in Wheeling. Only a handful of years ago I would see a lot of the "ladies of the night" wandering around downtown and in Center Wheeling, but I haven't noticed any for a long time. I guess guys must still be looking though, since we had 7 guys arrested for soliciting Thursday night......Chief Gessler says it's just the beginning of a summer-long crackdown on "nuisance" crimes....Charges now filed in that underage drinking party in the Oglebay area 2 weeks ago. Abusiness owner and his wife allegedly hosted the event. Kids from the private Linsly School were involved. I'm glad the sheriff's department and prosecutor took time for a full investigation before releasing the names (that's only fair to those involved), I just hop the same courtesy will given to less-prominent citizens from East Wheeling or Warwood as well....Severstal (formerly Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel) has been working hard the last couple of weeks to allay fears that their recent large layoffs are NOT a sign they are closing up shop. Frankly, I am one of those who has been suggesting that the layoffs were the beginning of the real "end" of the steel industry here, but maybe I'm wrong. Hope I am.

Notes from the weekend.....
What a glorious weekend in the Valley! Beautiful weather. Great race. People milling around downtown, at the parks, in our local businesses.......Saw Star Trek. Loved it! A great flick on its own, but an extra treat for those of us who are fans of the original. I expected a bigger crowd. Less than 20 in the theater. Only 2 looked under 40. Has everyone already seen by week #3?...Thank you, Mike Myers.Usually
Mike's Sunday newspaper column gets my blood pressure up since he and I are on different political wavelengths, but his piece on "luxury camping" was a fun holiday read...When a cop car rolls up beside you and motions you over, I get nervous. But the officer gave me a thumbs up and just wanted to say he loves the weekly TV show on Comcast14. Whew!......BTW, after doing the show on location on the riverfront this week, I think we may do "location shows" all summer
We are always looking for the magic bullet. That single action which will make American Democracy all better again.
One of the biggies these days is term limits.
But in politics, all elected officials have term limits. They are called elections.
When you hear talk hosts, candidates, or other protestors calling for "Term Limits", remember what they REALLY mean is that they can't get the majority of voters to agree with their own choice of candidate, so they want to stack the deck against the will of the majority of voters.
Alan Mollohan, Jay Rockefeller, Robert C. Byrd. All of them are in office and stay in office because a majority of voters like the work they do.
Don't like the guy in office? Convince your fellow voters that the other guy is better.
THAT'S the limit on their term.
They are the words and phrases that are dropped into a TV show, but somehow sneak outside the border of the video set and set up shop in the real world.
