Pannsylvania Congesswoman Allyson Schwartz and I discussed health care on the show on Wednesday.
Tuesday I talked with free market economist Thomas E. Woods. Expected a dry economic dissertation, but actually found him engaging..
Woods new bestseller Meltdown: a Free-market Look At Why The Stock Market Collapsed, The Economy Tanked and Government Bailouts Will Make Things Worse can be purchased through Amazon directly from the WVLY ON-LINE STORE. (click the link or see the box in the left-hand column of this page.

In the midst of the hustle and bustle and of your busy morning, take a minute to reflect each day on the bigger picture.

Having read Meltdown as well as being a "hobby economist", it is easy to see why these Miseans (Austrian) economists were correct in seeing the events now unfolding. They are unpopular with government simply because their cases show the problem was created by government but can't be fixed by government. To the best of my understanding this "print to prosperity" was last tried in Germany, 1921-1924. Great interview!

Caught the interview with Woods, was pleased and surprised at you apparent openness to receive new ideas; in my experience that's unusual in a big government type.
I'll give you another listen.

Dear Mr. Monroe,
Thanks for your straight-forward discussion with Thomas Woods. The ideas he is presenting are great tools for guiding principles to get out of the current economic crises, and it is refreshing to know they are sometimes given an honest hearing.
Sincerely,
Matt Novak

Nice job with the Woods interview. This book has done and will continue to do a lot of good. People need to learn that the politicians are NOT looking out for them, and they need to be kept on a very short leash that is connected to a choker collar. Right now what they need is a firm, sharp jerk.
